Upcoming Lecture from Peter Buckland

On Wednesday, November 13, Dr. Peter Buckland will visit Bloomsburg to meet with students, administrators, and local government officials to discuss methods for making both the campus and the town more environmentally and economically efficient. Dr. Buckland is the Academic Programs Manager at Penn State’s Sustainability Institute and the former Chair of the Ferguson Township Board of Supervisors. He remains active in local government as the chair of a solar power purchase agreement working group and in local conservation, serving on the Board of the Penns Valley Conservation Association.

At 5pm, Dr. Buckland will deliver the fourth lecture in the ICS Explores Sustainability series. In this talk, he will provide background on the “wicked problems” of our age, including but not limited to human-caused climate change and environmental degradation, inequality, aging infrastructure, and widespread societal distrust. Based on research, action, teaching, and his experience as a champion for sustainability, he will provide examples of how universities are rising to meet these challenges. Mark your calendar!
